Description

Drawing seems like a fun skill. It makes it possible to bring your ideas out, to show them to others in shape and color. And all this with a few simple tools! No wonder that so many people dream of learning how to draw. Unfortunately, this kind of skill sometimes seems impossible to attain. Why is it harder than, let's say, playing chess or cooking?

In this article I'd like to show you that even though drawing is hard, sometimes you make it harder with your own mind. These mental obstacles stop you from learning and bring needless frustration. If you understand them, they'll disappear and you'll finally be free to learn!

There is so much to learn for your article! I would recommend it to every person who have doubts about their skills. I mean we're all stuck in some point in our artistic journey and some people can find it discorauging (I'm talking about attitude like: "I'll never be as good as da Vinci... I could never draw anything like Dali..."). If one is on the beginning of learning how to draw, looking at people way better than yourself coud be depressing.

That's why I walways like to see when some artists (here on dA also) show their progress trough the years. I mean I feel like there's still hope for me ;) It's really important to realize things you wrote about in point 1 and 2. And point seven - I heard often people complaint about how they can't draw humans/hair/background or anything else, but at the same time they didn's bother to look trough some references first. I mean you can't draw horses/fur/oranges, if you never looked at them with intentions to learn how they work.

I'm just somewhere between level 3 and 4 (and maybe little bit in 5 if it comes to some animals), but your article is very inspiring for me. Thanks for sharing!
